Open Access Week
In Open Access Week this year, Stellenbosch University became the first African university to sign the Berlin Declaration of Open Access to the Sciences and the Humanities. This means that the University has agreed to open up its vast resources to the public, giving individuals and communities free and easy access to academic reseach, scholarly material, data sets, secientific journals and dissertations. Open access promotes the growth of scholarly output by removing the cost and legal restrictions of access to information.
