Vatican to digitize manuscripts

The Vatican has announced an ambitious program to make digital copies of its entire collection of manuscripts. The program is already underway, with 75,000 pages of manuscript being rendered into digital form, using what L’Osservatore Romano described as “extremely advanced” technology that was first designed for use in the American space program. Eventually the Vatican Library hopes to produce digital records of over 40 million manuscript pages!
